Kia Extended Car Warranty

The Kia range has grown rapidly in South Africa, backed by a generous five-year/150 000 km manufacturer warranty. Once that expires, the turbocharged engines, DCT gearboxes and sophisticated electronics in modern Kia models carry real repair costs.
An extended motor warranty from Warranty Extender picks up where the factory cover ends — protecting you against unexpected mechanical and electrical failures.

Known Kia failure areas
The Kia range is backed by one of the most generous warranties in the segment, but specific mechanical failure areas are documented on turbocharged and DCT-equipped models once that factory cover expires.
DCT dual-clutch transmission failure is documented on Kia's turbocharged range including the Sonet 1.0T and Sportage 1.6T. The DCT's clutch actuators control pressure on the clutch packs and can fail — causing the gearbox to slip, vibrate, or refuse to engage gears in traffic. In stop-start urban driving, heat buildup in the clutch packs accelerates wear. Actuator replacement and clutch pack repair are significant workshop jobs.
Turbocharger failure on the 1.0T and 1.6T engines is documented at higher mileage, linked to oil starvation and heat soak after hard use. South Africa's stop-start urban traffic is particularly hard on small turbocharged engines that do not receive adequate cool-down time before shutdown. Turbocharger replacement is a major repair and a genuine warranty claim item.
Electronic and sensor faults are more prevalent on modern Kia models than on older naturally aspirated equivalents, given the density of driver assistance systems, sensors, and control modules. ECU faults, ABS module failures, and sensor replacements are all covered under an extended motor warranty — these are mechanical component failures, not service items.
