Hyundai Grand i10 Extended Car Warranty

The Hyundai Grand i10 is one of South Africa's most popular entry-level hatchbacks, offering strong standard specification and low running costs at a competitive price.
Hyundai's five-year/150 000 km factory warranty is among the best in the segment — but once it expires, repair costs on the Grand i10's turbocharged and automatic variants can be surprisingly high. An extended motor warranty protects you beyond the factory period.

Known Hyundai Grand i10 failure areas
The Grand i10 is generally reliable, but specific failure areas are documented on the 1.0T turbocharged and IVT automatic variants — none of which are wear-and-tear items.
IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission) failure is the most significant documented issue on the Grand i10 automatic. The IVT is a CVT-type transmission that can exhibit shuddering, hesitation and overheating in stop-start urban conditions. Internal belt and pulley wear requires specialist workshop repair and is a genuine warranty claim item — not a service item.
Turbocharger failure on the 1.0T engine has been documented on higher-mileage examples, particularly where short urban trips prevent the oil from reaching full operating temperature before shutdown. Heat soak after hard use accelerates turbocharger bearing wear. A failing turbo produces a whining noise and progressive power loss.
Electronic throttle and sensor faults causing limp mode with sudden power loss are documented across the Grand i10 range. Throttle body or position sensor replacement is not a service item and is fully covered under an extended motor warranty.
