The Chery Tiggo range is newer to South Africa, but specific failure areas are being documented as more examples reach higher mileage — and these are not wear-and-tear items.

DCT dual-clutch transmission hesitation and failure is the most reported issue on the Tiggo 4 Pro and Tiggo 7 Pro with the 7-speed wet DCT. Owners report jerky, hesitant gear changes in stop-start traffic, shuddering on take-off and, on higher-mileage examples, clutch pack wear requiring workshop intervention. This is a mechanical component failure, not a service item.

Turbocharger responsiveness and failure on the 1.5T and 2.0T engines has been documented, with the turbo building boost inconsistently under hard acceleration. Heat soak in urban conditions is a contributing factor on South African examples. Turbocharger replacement is a major repair covered under an extended warranty.

Electrical and infotainment module failures are more common on Chery models than on established Japanese competitors, reflecting the brand's ongoing quality development. ECU faults, connectivity module failures and sensor issues have been reported. Physical module replacement is a warranty claim item.
