Renault Extended Car Warranty

Renault has built a strong following in South Africa with value-focused SUVs that punch above their price point. The Kiger brought turbo-petrol efficiency to the entry SUV segment, the Duster remains one of the most affordable genuine AWD SUVs available, and the Captur targets style-conscious urban buyers. All three offer more car than their prices suggest — and all three are more sophisticated mechanically than their entry-level positioning implies.
Renault’s 5-year/150 000 km warranty is one of the best in the market. But even after 5 years, an extended warranty is the most cost-effective way to keep the cover running.

Known Renault failure areas
Kiger 1.0T turbocharger wear at higher mileages is emerging as the Kiger fleet ages. The small-displacement turbocharged engine runs high boost pressures relative to its displacement, and turbo wear is accelerated on vehicles that have not received strictly on-time oil changes. Turbocharger failure is a mechanical component fault covered in full under extended warranty.
Duster 1.5 dCi injector and DPF issues are documented on higher-mileage diesel Dusters, particularly those used predominantly on short trips where the DPF (diesel particulate filter) cannot complete passive regeneration. Fuel system component failures are covered under extended warranty.
CVT X-Tronic wear on the Kiger and Captur is documented at higher mileages. Renault’s CVT is sensitive to extended oil change intervals and sustained high-load use. CVT failure is covered as a mechanical fault under extended warranty.
EASY-R automated manual gearbox faults — jerky engagement, hesitation and actuator failures — are well-documented on older Renault models still in the SA used car market. Actuator and solenoid failures are covered under extended warranty.
