Kia Sportage Extended Car Warranty

The Kia Sportage has been a consistent favourite in South Africa’s competitive mid-size SUV segment. Backed by Kia’s class-leading 5-year/150 000 km manufacturer warranty, it comes with more factory cover than most competitors. But once that warranty expires, Sportage owners without extended cover face repair costs that reflect the Sportage’s sophistication — not its reputation for reliability.
An extended warranty picks up exactly where the factory cover ends, keeping the same protection in place for as long as you own the vehicle.

Known Kia Sportage failure areas
Theta II GDI engine failures — on petrol Sportages built before the updated engine spec — are well-documented internationally. Metal debris from the connecting rod bearing area can contaminate the oil system, leading to catastrophic engine failure. While the updated SA-spec engine addresses many of these concerns, higher-mileage examples warrant extended warranty protection.
2.0 CRDi injector and fuel pump wear at high mileages is documented on diesel Sportages. Common-rail injector replacement is expensive and is covered as a mechanical failure under extended warranty.
Automatic gearbox solenoid faults causing harsh shifting and hesitation are reported on the 6-speed automatic Sportage. Solenoid replacement or valve body work is fully covered under extended warranty.
Electrical module failures — including ABS modulator faults and infotainment system failures — are reported across multiple Sportage generations and covered as electronic component failures under warranty.
