The Peugeot Landtrek is a well-equipped, competitively priced entrant in South Africa’s double-cab bakkie market, offered with two turbodiesel engines — the established 1.9-litre and the new 2.2-litre Multijet (147kW, 450Nm, eight-speed automatic) launched in October 2026 — as well as turbo-petrol power. What’s covered

New 2.2TD Landtrek

Peugeot launched two new Landtrek double cab derivatives on 8 October 2026: the 2.2TD Allure (4x2) and the 2.2TD 4Action (4x4). The 2.2-litre Multijet turbodiesel produces 147kW and 450Nm, which is 37kW and 100Nm more than the 1.9TD, and maximum towing rises from 3,000kg to 3,500kg.

New Landtreks come with a 5-year/100,000km warranty, so an extended motor warranty is for when that cover ends. The same Monthly and Once-Off options are available for the 2.2TD as for the 1.9TD; the exact cover for your derivative is confirmed on your quote.

Known Peugeot Landtrek failure areas

The Landtrek’s turbodiesel and turbo-petrol engines carry the failure areas typical of modern common-rail and forced-induction bakkies — none of them wear-and-tear items.

Turbo actuator and DPF faults are the most relevant out-of-warranty risks on the 1.9TD diesel. The 2.2TD is too new to have a failure record yet. The turbo actuator can lose calibration or seize, producing boost faults and limp mode, while the diesel particulate filter can block from short-run duty cycles and failed regeneration. Both are genuine component failures covered under an extended motor warranty rather than service items.

Common-rail injection faults including injector wear and high-pressure fuel-pump issues are documented on modern diesel bakkies, particularly where fuel quality is variable, producing rough running, smoke and hard starting. These are covered mechanical repairs.

Electronic and driveline faults including sensor failures, 4x4 engagement faults and infotainment or dashboard warnings are documented across the range. These are component failures covered under an extended warranty.
