Peugeot Extended Car Warranty

The Peugeot range is well-regarded for its interior quality, ride comfort and design — but Peugeot's reliability record is described as mediocre by major reliability surveys. The 2008 and 3008 are the most popular models in South Africa, and both carry Peugeot's 5-year/100 000 km "Peugeot Pride" warranty.
Once the factory warranty expires, Peugeot repair costs in South Africa can be substantial. An extended motor warranty protects you from the documented failure areas on the PureTech petrol engine and EAT gearbox families — the two most significant cost items on out-of-warranty Peugeots.

Known Peugeot failure areas
Peugeot's PureTech petrol engine and EAT automatic gearbox families carry well-documented failure areas shared with Citroën — and none of these are wear-and-tear items.
PureTech 1.2T wet timing belt failure is the most serious documented fault on the Peugeot 2008, 3008 and 208. The PureTech three-cylinder turbo engine uses a timing belt running in engine oil. On models built before 2020, this belt can shed rubber particles as it degrades — clogging the oil pump strainer and starving the engine of lubrication. In severe cases, complete engine failure results. Symptoms include increased oil consumption, metallic ticking on start-up and rough running. Peugeot issued a recall for many affected vehicles but the fault can still manifest on examples that escaped early intervention.
EAT6 automatic gearbox jerky shifting and clutch wear is documented across the 3008 and 2008 with the 6-speed EAT6 automatic. The gearbox exhibits delayed shifts, jolts at low speed and clutch plate wear — particularly in stop-start urban conditions. Clutch pack or gearbox control module replacement is a significant workshop bill and a genuine mechanical component failure.
Electrical and infotainment faults including random warning lights, the digital i-Cockpit display failing and rear wheel speed sensor cable failures are documented across the Peugeot range. The rear ABS wheel speed sensor cable can fracture from repeated suspension movement, triggering ABS, ESP and tyre pressure warning lights simultaneously. Physical cable or sensor replacement is a warranty claim item.
