Known Ford Everest failure areas
High-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failure is the most significant documented fault on the 2.0 Bi-Turbo Everest, shared with the Ranger. Failure contaminates the entire fuel system — injectors, fuel rail, low-pressure pump — requiring a full fuel system replacement. Without warranty cover, this repair costs upwards of R60 000. It is a confirmed mechanical failure, not a wear-and-tear item.
Bi-turbo system failures — including variable-geometry turbocharger actuator faults and intercooler boost leaks — are documented on higher-mileage examples. Turbo actuator replacement is a specialist job on the 2.0 Bi-Turbo and is fully covered under an extended warranty.
10-speed automatic gearbox issues, including harsh shifting and solenoid faults, have been reported on SA-specification Everests. Gearbox repairs on the 10R80 unit are expensive and covered in full under warranty.
