Kia Tasman Extended Warranty South Africa

The Kia Tasman is Kia’s first serious entry into the double-cab bakkie segment, built around a 2.2-litre CRDi turbodiesel. As the earliest Tasmans move beyond their factory warranty, an engine, turbo or driveline repair on a modern common-rail diesel bakkie becomes an owner cost.

An extended motor warranty keeps those costs predictable, protecting the mechanical and emissions components that matter most on a working Tasman.

What’s covered

Engine & Internals

All internal engine components, turbocharger, timing chain and head gasket.

Gearbox & Drivetrain

Manual and automatic gearbox internals, transfer case and 4x4 components.

Turbo & Emissions

Turbocharger, actuator, EGR and related forced-induction components.

Electrical & ECU

Engine management, ABS, sensors and electronic control modules.

Cooling System

Water pump, thermostat, radiator and coolant hoses.

Steering & Suspension

Power steering, wheel bearings and suspension components.

24/7 Roadside Assistance

Nationwide towing, emergency fuel, lockout and accommodation benefits.

Known Kia Tasman failure areas

The Tasman’s 2.2 CRDi turbodiesel and its emissions system carry the failure areas typical of modern common-rail diesel bakkies — none of them wear-and-tear items.

Turbo actuator and DPF faults are the most relevant out-of-warranty risks. The variable-geometry turbo actuator can lose calibration or seize, producing boost faults and limp mode, while the diesel particulate filter can block from short-run duty cycles and failed regeneration. Both are genuine component failures covered under an extended motor warranty rather than service items.

Common-rail injection faults including injector wear and high-pressure fuel-pump issues are documented across the Hyundai-Kia CRDi diesel family, particularly where fuel quality is variable, producing rough running, smoke and hard starting. These are covered mechanical repairs.

Electronic and driveline faults including sensor failures, 4x4 engagement faults and infotainment or dashboard warnings are expected across the range. These are component failures covered under an extended warranty.
